Roof Trusses

Timber roof trusses have replaced rafters in most roof construction projects.

A roof truss is a structural framework of timbers designed to bridge the space above a room and to provide support for the roof coverings. The trusses are placed at regular intervals, linked by longitudinal and diagonal bracing timbers. The space between each roof truss is known as a bay.

Why Roof Trusses are better value

Roof trusses are better value, both in terms of materials and time on-site, than more conventional rafters. That’s why most new homes are now designed using trusses. Roof trusses use smaller timber sections that are engineered to provide a similar strength to rafters – but without unnecessary, expensive wood. Entire roofs can be erected in a fraction of the time taken by traditional methods, not only saving joinery costs, but also reducing overall project timescales and associated overheads.
